"My name is Monica Bell and I am a Hurricane Katrina evacuee from New Orleans, LA. As I reminisce about a tragic time in my life, I cannot help but to be grateful and thank God for my blessings. After surviving a national disaster, I have learned to view and appreciate life differently. This is due mostly to my faith in God and my renewed faith after the storm. During these troubling times, God positioned me in Georgia where I have found a sense of home. I have been surrounded by people that went over and beyond the call of duty to bring life to what I remembered before the storm, such as basic living necessities. Things like water, electricity, phone, food, shelter and peace of mind were the things I was starving for during the storm. After spending two weeks without those basic necessities in Jayess, MS where my maternal grandmother lives, I was ecstatic to come here to Georgia.
I was first located in a hotel in the Duluth area, which was provided by FEMA until I was able to move into an apartment. After moving into an apartment, my job was transferred to Lawrenceville, GA. While out driving one day, I decided that things were going better and it was time to settle down here in a condominium or singe-family home. Out of all the subdivisions I visited in the Lawrenceville area, Wynfield Park, which is developed by Presidio Homes, was the only one that catered to my needs.
Presidio Homes offered an incentive just for being a Hurricane Katrina evacuee. In addition, I was not limited to using a preferred lender to get other perks that were offered by the builder. The builder paid $10,000 towards my closing costs, etc. This money could have been used in other ways like upgrades or to lower the sales price of the home. Presidio Homes made my first home buying experience memorable and I will be forever grateful for the excellent staff support and the one on one contact with the builder. Thanks again Presidio Homes!
Sincerely,
Monica Bell"
